These are the minutes of he EGM held at West Hill School, Stalybridge on the 20th April 2013

Background

In his position as regional chairman pro tem Colin Walls explained the background for the change to the constitution.

England Fencing are providing funding for regional development. This requires regions to undertake activities such as fencer and coach development as well as other development activities such as volunteer programs and refeeree courses. These requirements need to be written inserted into regional constitutions. The easiest course of action is to adopt the template constitution provided by England Fencing and this, with some minor changes, is what is proposed.

Voting

The adoption of the new constitution was then put to the vote. Proxy votes in favour had already been taken for Arnold KEQMS School and Romiley Fencing Club. The proposal was accepted nem con with representatives from Manchester Fencing Club, Salle Kiss, Stockport Sword Club, Marshall Fencing voting in favour.

Any Other Business

Colin Walls informed the meeting that the AGM would be on the 30th June at the regional championships. He also stated that he was:

  • Acting regional chairman
  • Web master
  • Joint organiser of the NWJS, running the DT at five out of the six events and refereeing at each one of them
  • Contact for England Fencing's hub development initiative, though he was desperately trying to avoid a major involvement with the initiative.

All of this he does in addition to his coaching load of three to four nights per week.

He does not intend to stand for the chairmanship at the AGM and is gradually going to step back from other lead positions. He wishes to stand down as organiser and DT for the NWJS at the end of the year and web master towards the middle of 2014. As a result he is looking to others in the region taking over these duties.

The meeting was then closed
